Grand Bahama

Grand Bahama Island is a popular destination in part due to its proximity to the US coast. Located in the Bahamas only about 55 miles (90 km) from the state of Florida, the island offers a wide variety of activities which allow yacht charter guests to get in touch with the nature surrounding them.

Grand Bahama

With miles of beaches abutting the turquoise waters, you are sure to find plenty of water-related activities while vacationing in Grand Bahama. The sandy beaches are family-friendly and activities extend from kayaking, airboat and bike tours, jeep safaris, dolphin encounters, and scuba diving. The Rand Nature Centre on Petersons Cay as well as the Lucayan National Park are both great experiences, particularly for children. The Lucayan park stretches 40 acres and includes five ecological zones from beach to pines. The extensive underwater caves beneath the park offer a great opportunity for divers, while one cave is actually accessible by stairs inside the park.

Grand Bahama Island is 93 miles long (150 km) and 12 miles (20 km) at its widest point, yet it is packed with cultural events that provide tourists with the true Bahamian experience. Local fish fries, like those at Smith’s Point, are one such opportunity as are Junkanoo performances and evening celebrations at Count Basie Square.
